Sé de Braga

The Sé de Braga is the oldest cathedral in Portugal, consecrated in 1089 before the country was even founded, which inspired the famous local idiom "older than the Braga Cathedral." Built over the ruins of an ancient Roman temple, this monumental landmark showcases centuries of artistic evolution through a fascinating blend of architectural styles, ranging from its original Romanesque core and medieval Gothic elements to Manueline details and the sumptuous Baroque design of its twin towers and gilded pipe organs.
